The End

At last, the worst is over. To be honest I did not think that I was going to be able to finish the final essay for The Exception novel, to start with I could not read the entire novel so in order to have enough information about the character I wrote about, I had to read the key points and events from the book. Although I do not believe that any of us was ever turned in a paper that we are completely happy about, I ended up being very pleased with my essay, I think that my description and analysis of the character is very accurate and complete. Hopefully I'll get a good grade!!!!

ps. Good Luck to everyone!

Book Fair

I finally managed to dedicate a little time to the much needed extra-credit. Even though today was the last day of the Miami Book Fair International 2008, you could see people overflowing the streets with energy. I decided to attend some authors and to be honest it was not quite what I expected. I ended up in a room full of gay, rich people, and by the way (the major of the city) who were talking about sex, drugs and South Beach being the "Hot Spot". Their analysis of South Beach went beyond its population and nightlife, they emphasized on the way the city has lost the meaning of what it really is, and is currently rather represented by beautiful women with big breasts and fit gay men who want to make it in the modeling industry. It was interesting for once to be involved in a conversation that touched the most degrading aspects of life, the dirtiness and wickedness of the world we live in.

United Barack of Obamas

Well finally election day passed and as many expected and hoped Barack Obama is now the new president of the United States. I was mostly shocked, because to be quite honest America has come a long way as far as the racial issues and discrimination go. I would have never thought that this country would have an African American president, but the day is finally here. I guess that the only comment I really have to make is that Obama will either be considered the greatest president or the worst, which might not be necessarily true, but I think that most people including those who do not support Obama have really high expectations for what he can do for this country. Any little mistake will be viewed as a failure and every working strategy he uses will make him "just the right guy for the job". All we can do is wait to see how many of his promises actually come true.

The Nightmare before Christmas

Finally.. Spooky Halloween is closing up. My favorite holiday (besides Christmas) is right around the corner and I don't even have a costume yet. It's funny how many people argue that Halloween should be banned because it is a celebration of the devil. Well, no offence to those people, but besides dressing up a little creepy, I don't see anything evil about this holiday. The energy in the streets is surreal, little kids run the streets begging for candy, and even dentistry business are filled with joy at this time of year. This is actually one of the few occasions on which everyone goes out to party and celebrate the same thing.

X- Time Left

So I am now half way through the novel "The Exception", and I know it does not seem like much since the due date is NEXT MONTH already, but just when you think the book couldn't get any better, it does. For many people I know this seems like some boring old novel, but as for me, I'm loving it. I don't want to say which is my favorite part because I don't want to spoil it for those who have not read it. All I can Say is that this is a far better book that I would have expected, although is gets a little confusing at first, towards the middle you can see the real shape of the story. I hope you all like it as much as I am.

Exciting!!!

Last week I started working at an office. The company name is Palace resorts and my department deals with the booking of weddings for all the resorts, which are located in Mexico. The pay is awsome, the hours are flexible, and they give full benefits to every employee, ot to mention the fact that they give out free trips to any location of the resort of your choice. The owner of the company is from India, and the guy is literally CRAZY! Every year at the Christmas party he gives out at least 30,000 dollars to his employees. I cannot wait for that party! woho

Identi-kits

It was such fun making the Identi-kit collages, I hope we get similar assignments throughout the course. It was very interesting to see how other people portrait themselves. I could notice that most of the collages were similar or related in some way. The collage I liked the most was that of a girl who clearly wants to be a doctor, but the picture she posted had no hands; I just thought it was ironic and funny, the doctor without hands.
